Just For Kids (JFK) is looking for a full time Registered Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to provide quality and supportive care to each child enrolled in our unlicensed childcare facility. Since we are unlicensed, the maximum number of children under our care is five (5) and they are all under the age of 4 years. Ultimately the full-time ECE will be responsible for organizing the learning environment and overseeing activities that foster all areas of the emotional, cognitive, social and physical development of the children at JFK.

Qualifications (REQUIRED)
– Applicant MUST
o be registered with the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario
o have an up to date First Aid and CPR certification
o provide a criminal background check
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to aid in maintaining relationships and instilling trust with parents and community members
– A good understanding of the issues that affect children and their families.
– A mature and responsible attitude towards work
– Willingness to work flexible hours during the week
– Ability to lift children
Duties and Responsibilities
– Participate and contribute to the development of new ideas and methods to enhance the childcare program
– Follow the procedures and practices implemented at the facility to support the mission and goals of the program
– Ensure all the required administrative duties are completed in accordance with JFK’s policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to:
o ensuring that all paperwork and forms are completed and up to date for each child under care at JFK.
o Incident reports are completed and reported appropriately
o attend staff meetings to discuss difficult children and areas of improvement
o assist in record keeping

– Be in charge of all meals (snacks and lunch) for the kids including assistance with preparation of the food
– Use a variety of teaching techniques including modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing
– Demonstrate flexibility, patience and act as a role model of appropriate behaviour when dealing with children
– Plan and implement child-lead daily activities
– Organize space, equipment, and materials before and after activities
– Encourage and assist children to practice self-help on a daily basis
– Provide positive guidelines such as redirecting, positive language and positive reinforcement
